Press Release: RICHARD HANNEMANN DEBUTS ALBUM "THE MUSICIAN" [Jun. 27th, 2006|11:45 am]

Richard Hannemann, singer/songwriter, guitarist/composer, is pleased to announce the availability of his debut album, "The Musician", on his website www.HannemannMusic.com

There are several elements to the unique listening experience of the album. It is not of a single genre throughout: there are 8 song tracks of a folk/country/standards blend and 4 solo guitar tracks of a classical/light jazz/blues nature. Mr. Hannemann's principle instrument is the classical guitar, which gives a warmer, richer tone than the more standard steel string guitar. His finger-style technique, itself a classical/folk blend, allows for straight-up to intricate accompaniments which create an internal rhythm for the songs and allows for solo instrumental bridges within the songs. The lyric songs add a 12 string guitar for foundation, and mandolin, melodica, and bass (as needed) as color polyphony to the vocal line. Mr. Hannemann plays all instruments. Then there are the narrative segues placed between the principle song tracks. Each narrative is accompanied by either the classical guitar, the 12 string, or the mandolin and, combined, we hear the story of a semi - retired musician advising a youngster just starting out on a life in music.

Many guitarists in the internet community may remember Mr. Hannemann from the old AOL GTRSIG as amadeus555, where he authored a series of guitar lessons. Those Lessons are also available in book form.

To audition and/or order The Musician, please visit Mr. Hannemann's site, www.HannemannMusic.com .

Old Songs [Jun. 19th, 2005|06:35 pm]

If you're looking for a festival in the Northeast, a favorite of mine is the Old Songs Festival in Altamont NY up near Albany. It's a small festival with really good music, puppet shows, workshops, and lots of contradancing.

The festival is happening this weekend, June 24, 25, and 26. Onsite camping is sold out, but there is a state park down the road.

What do You Really Want? [May. 24th, 2005|02:12 pm]

Who would you like to see play at the Kerrville Folk Festival?

For me, I'd like to see, amongst others, Randy Newman and David Bromberg. I think they'd both draw a pretty good crowd, too.

What I'm Thinking Is... [May. 24th, 2005|02:00 pm]

Welcome to the kerrfolk community.

This will not be a heavily moderated community. For now, all posts that aren't mean will be left. If that doesn't work, I'll have to rethink things.

I do have some suggestions for conventions that may make things easier...

People can view a post's "subject" when searching the community Archives. So if you think someone may want to find your post later, it will help them find it if you make the subject relevant and recognizable.

Please don't post copyrighted material, unless you are the copyright holder. You may link to copyrighted material.

Feel free to post gig announcements and tour schedules.

Please post photographs and any other high bandwidth documents to kerrphotos, so dial-up users can easily participate in this community.

Have fun.

This community is for all LJ and non-LJ Kerrverts and Kerrvirgins. I plan to do very little in the way of moderating. I will delete mean spirited and snarky posts. But as long as things are working, that's about all I plan to do.

Enjoy, Tia Carol
